I am absolutely in love with this game.
Disregard the actual gameplay for the time being. The awesome visual effects are more than enough to justify the purchase of this game.
A racer, Table Top Racing takes place amongst toy cars typically on dining tables where users navigate a trail peppered by dining utensils and food items. So expect to see the most random items scattered around the tracks ranging from Sakae bottles to sandwiches. The high quality graphics realistically depict an alternative view of what our dining tables might look like albeit from a significantly lower angle. I loved how the game’s crisp graphics allowed for an extremely enjoyable gaming experience when honestly, I was expecting chunky mediocre animations from a title like this.
However, actual gameplay was a tad disappointing. While the depth of content was great with unlockable vehicles and upgrades, I found the control scheme a little too awkward to handle. With buttons spaced extremely out at the bottom of the screen, a part of me wished a virtual joystick joystick could be made available instead. The game levels progressed a little too easily for my liking as well, where after getting acquainted with the controls the game posed not much of a challenge.
Of course, there is also the Mario Kart style of power-up pickups to hinder your enemies’ progress, but fancier stuff like slipstream trailing remains unseen. The game may seem a little expensive, but it is overall an excellent title.
