User Rating:Teaching your children about the bible just became a bit easier with this BooksAlive (TM) technology iPad book teaching the holy book using big, colorful images and large letter text. As can be expected from an ebook, the control interface is easy; there are forward and backward buttons, a big indicator to show which page you are on and a music on/off button at the top of the pages. Clicking on the page numbering opens up the overview of all the pages in the bottom and allows the user to buy the rest of the pages.
As you understand from the presence of music, this isn’t your average ebook experience; there is (in this case light) music playing in the background and there are some other features making this AliveBooks idea worthwhile. Mainly the option to touch and move parts of the images during reading. This can be very entertaining for the younger children getting read to; they can play around with the stuff on the screen while learning the story about the creation.
While the book is a free download, it only contains 3 pages of story; the rest has to be bought in-game. Three pages are not a lot but give enough of an impression to know if you want to purchase the rest for $0.99. Not so much for a nicely illustrated book! The concern I would have here is what age is being targeted, as it seems to be book being read to the child; who’s going to play with the screen in that regard? Then a last remark for the developers; why the arrows to move from screen to screen instead of the page flipping we have grown accustomed to on the iPad?
We rate this app 4 out of 5 stars.
