Be a god, they said. Assume godhood, they said. It would be fun, they said.
And fun it was.
In The Sandbox, players play the role of a seemingly omnipotent being, shaping their beautifully rendered 8-bit mode as what they would like it to be. With complete control over the elements, players can exercise creativity to design whatever they want.
A pity the game is in 8-bit and not infused with beautiful 3D graphics.
The Sandbox is rather difficult to grasp at the start too. While a higher god acts as a guru of sorts to give instructions on gameplay, it barely helps and players are left hanging to find out more about the game on their own.
In The Sandbox, actions are completed with the use of Mana, and while Mana is plenty at the start of the game, you will soon find yourself wishing you had more Mana as it runs out quickly. Possibly a clever ploy by the developers, additional Mana can be purchased via in-app purchases.
The Sandbox gives users plenty of freedom in shaping their worlds. The ability to add living beings like humans as well as countless different reactions by mashing elements leaves much for the imagination to procure.
For a free app, The Sandbox is worth the download. With the only letdowns being the graphics and the shoddy tutorial, The Sandbox is an extremely extensive and addictive game you might want to give a shot.
