In a bid to raise awareness for up and coming artistes as well as promote current superstars, Twitter has come up with a new social media application as an extension to the existing Twitter application. An existing account is needed to use this though.

Twitter #music isn’t a separate media platform. What it does is isolate musician profiles and allows for users to browse through excerpts of their songs which acts as promos of some sorts. Users can then share with the rest of their followers about the new songs they’ve stumbled across along with the relevant hash tags.

I loved the panel based design the app utilises which keeps everything extremely neat and tidy. Different panels represent different artistes and tapping on them fans out to more details users can browse through. This simplistic design made it very enjoyable to navigate.

A really good marketing gimmick, music lovers might want to use this to expand their library.
