A racer obviously to promote the Volkswagen line of cars, with the launching of the Volkswagen Up! Challenge app showing a cut scene that showcases a close up of a 3D model of one of its cars.
With a large selection of cars available to race, it is no surprise that all of them are from the Volkswagen brand.
With race tracks set in a very futuristic city, Volkswagen Up! Challenge brings about a new feel to typical racing games. A noticeable difference from typical racing games would be a small blip that follows the car wherever it goes, displaying the current elapsed time as well as track position. Scattered around the beautifully rendered tracks are also speed patches that boost your speed if you move across them. With 3 different game modes to choose from, this is definitely one entertaining game.
My only gripe would be about the tacky control system which is a real pain to handle with its weird directional positions.
In terms of visuals, Volkswagen Up! Challenge did a magnificent job. Scrolling between car choices and level selections is very smooth, and the gameplay itself is fluid and not hampered with frame drops or what other hitches.
A free app, Volkswagen Up! Challenge gets my personal approval. While it may not be as extensive as some other games out in the app store, this one still provides plenty of entertainment.
