User Rating:Based on the critically acclaimed series of the same name, Walking Dead: The Game has finally made it to iOS devices. Everyone loves a good scare, and this apocalyptic title does an amazing job at impressing.
To start off, Walking Dead: The Game is a horror themed role playing game where players explore and solve puzzles while making critical decisions that come back later to haunt them. I have always been a huge fan of games that involved such functions, whereby different outcomes can be played out by the different choices made by the players. I must say Walking Dead: The Game does a great job in this, with seemingly infinite possibilities made possible based on the rash (or not) choices players make throughout the game. Answers and reactions made through dialogue and the such can have severe consequences and impacts later on in the game.
Cut scenes are excellent with wonderful voice overs, but I would stop short of calling it graphically amazing. Gameplay aside, the cut scenes could do better seeing how games like the Infinity Blade series have actual gameplay being displayed better than Walking Dead: The Game. I did, however, extensively enjoy the rich storyline which kept me engaged to the gameplay and thus the graphics were not really much of a concern to even begin with.
I did, however, find the game a tad too expensive. The game starts off at $4.99, already a pretty hefty price tag to pay despite the rich content. However, this initial purchase only makes the first episode available for play, where further episodes have to be unlocked for another $4.99 each. Given that there are a current total of 4 available episodes with episode 5 due to be released soon, that would make the entire game cost almost $25, pretty much overpriced for an iOS app in my opinion.Otherwise, this game is indeed one of the best I’ve ever played in terms of overall gameplay experience.
While the game is indeed in a league of its own, the hefty price tag would be the only factor that draws me away from it. If you do have the spare cash though, Walking Dead: The Game is one app that you definitely would not want to miss.
