User Rating:The scrabble style games been a favorite of internet gameplay for years, with some variations actually being more popular than official versions. The turned base crossword play challenges you to think and expands your vocabulary. WordFeud, by Berlheussen IT, takes this word searching to a new level with up to thirty simultaneous games with friend, or with random players on both the iPhone and the Android platform.
For those of your that may have never played Scrabble, or one of it’s many clones, the rules are simple. You are given seven tiles with which you have to made words, crossword style, on a board utilizing the previous words on the board. Every letter has a point value and there are special tiles that will double letter’s or word’s point values if your word falls across them. Once all the tiles are gone, the player with the highest score wins.
Word Feud has the familiar multiplayer format that lets you play as many as thirty simultaneous games with different players. The app will give you a PUSH notification when it is your turn. You can play against random opponents, or against friends that can be searched by email from your contact list. This method of online play was originally made popular by the “with friends” series of games. While there are a lot of similarities to that series’ scrabble clone, WordFeud has several features like more simultaneous games, and the option to select from various dictionaries and board layouts. WordFeud is missing any Facebook or Twitter interfaces which add more avenues to connect with gamers, but otherwise, WordFeud ranks at the top of the list of crossword board games. It is currently free and has a $2.99 option to remove the ads that pop up between turns.
We rate this app 4 out of 5 stars.
